Trauma Resilience Training

Blue Paw is pleased to offer specialised Trauma Resilience Training designed specifically for emergency services personnel. Our program emphasizes the importance of mental health support and focuses on building resilience early in the training process. We help individuals understand the signs and symptoms of trauma while providing them with effective strategies to manage its impacts. Additionally, our wellbeing support dog program is integrated to enhance the training experience. This training has already been successfully delivered to several police forces and universities as part of their emergency services degree programs.

Wellbeing and Trauma Support Dog

Attendance at Conferences, Training and Functions. When a dog is brought into the workplace, the atmosphere changes, and people are drawn to meet and play with the dog. During this time together, they share oxytocin, which is known to promote mental health support. Oxytocin is typically linked to warm, fuzzy feelings and has been shown in research to lower stress and anxiety. This connection with a wellbeing support dog can enhance our emotional responses and pro-social behaviors, including trust, empathy, positive memories, and positive communication.

One to One Support

Personal One to One Wellbeing

Engaging, open, and honest conversations are essential for mental health support. There's nothing better than a walk and talk in the open air with a wellbeing support dog at the end of the lead. We specialize in experiencing and managing the short and long-term effects of trauma, PTSD, depression, and stress.

Pause for Paws

When a dog is brought into the workplace, the atmosphere changes, and people are eager to meet and play with the dog. Encouraging the workforce to take some time away from their desks, phones, and emails to engage with the wellbeing support dog allows for a sense of happiness and time to de-stress. This interaction fosters opportunities to talk and relax. Feedback has shown that this Paws Time was the best part of the day, providing essential mental health support and enhancing productivity, contributing to a happier workplace.

Walk and Talk, Peer Support and One to One

One to One or Group sessions, walking outdoors with the wellbeing support dog creates a relaxed environment for discussing mental health support. The absence of direct eye contact, along with the presence of the dog, helps break the ice and encourages open conversation. Walk and Talks have shown to be particularly effective for individuals with a new diagnosis of PTSD.
